PR6 MCQ - Marmelete

An 8.4 km circular trail in Marmelete. A trail that runs through the mountain landscape and the town, not forgetting the gastronomy (sausages, honey and sweets, medronho brandy).

The trail starts near the Igreja de Marmelete (Church of Marmelete) and continues along Rua Francisco Furtado, sharing this first part of the path with the GR13 - Via Algarviana and Connection 5 - Marmelete to Aljezur. Further on, it then turns right, diverging from the GR13, towards the EM 267 and the Centro de Acolhimento de Marmelete (Marmelete Welcome Centre).

Crossing the road, on the other side you take a cobbled walk between small vegetable gardens, arriving at the Capela de Santo António (Saint Anthony Chapel). We now take the path to the left, passing through cork-oaks that show that cork is still a local income.

You cross Monte de Santo António and Covão, passing by chestnut trees, and walk alongside Barranco do Passil, observing the verdant riverine vegetation.

The trail then climbs through a eucalyptus forest towards the Miradouro dos Picos (Picos Viewpoint), where it is worth stopping to enjoy the panoramic view over the coast. The trail finally descends in the direction of Marmelete, to the starting point.
